11.1.14 Tree Planting at Patapsco State Park Avalon Area near Lost Lake
Patapsco Heritage Greenway sponsored a Tree Planting Event on Saturday, November 1, 2014. This took place along the Soapstone Branch in the Avalon Area of Patapsco State Park near Lost Lake.
Fifty one volunteers turned out on this rainy day to help with the planting of 10 red maple, 10 swamp white oak and 10 American sycamore trees. Thirty trees were planted in all! The trees were all given special names, some of which included Gilligan, Massella, Francisco, Kwilliam, Joratt, Kevin, Steve, Priya, Nova the Birthday Girl, Raymond, Poenation, Donut, Naynay, Humpty Dumpty, Rocky, Logan Klaus, Mindy, Worm Food, Seth, Red Baron, The Rock, Storm Runner, Sky Diver, Melissa, Mosar, Hershey, Sydney, Tatoote, Poochy, Pat, Jerry, Irish, Grizella and Tipsy the Syprone!
Participating groups included - PHG tree captains, PHG members, Howard High School, UMBC Honors, CCBC Catonsville, APO, Trees for the Future, Choice Program, Scout Troop 306, UMBC Environmental Task Force, and a Patapsco State Park Volunteer Ranger. A thank you to all these hard works and anyone else who volunteered their time to plant these wonderful trees!
